Adjunct Faculty

The Kenya Schoul of Government (KSG) was established under the Kenya Schoul of Government Act (2012 and has Campuses at Lower Kabete, Baringo, Embu, Matuga and Mombasa. The mandate of the Schoul is to provide learning and development programs that enhance skills and competencies in public service; conduct research that informs public pulicy; and offer expert consultancy services to improve standards of performance in public institutions. The Schoul offers exciting programs for all levels in public service and has initiated relevant research projects. Further, the Schoul maintains an environment that is conducive to learning and research and has some of the most modern facilities required by both learners and facilitators.

The Schoul now invites expressions of interest from qualified candidates seeking a challenging and dynamic learning environment for prequalification to join the adjunct faculty in areas of specialization in training, research, and consultancy services that are shown below. These fields of specialization indicated here are not exhaustive and applicants are welcome to propose other courses and programs for consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities of Adjunct Trainers

The trainer shall be required to:

1.Facilitate learning and learning assessment using appropriate and innovative methods

2.Develop high quality learning and assessment materials and assignments

3.Participate in curriculum development and establishment of a culture of continuous improvement and innovation

4.Monitor, evaluate, and review existing courses and programs in line with School quality procedures

5.Attend meetings convened in the faculty

Required Qualifications

1.The Master’s Degree in the field of specialization from a recognized institution.

2.At least 5 years working experience in the relevant field

3.Knowledge of public service

4.A Training of Trainers (TOT) Certificate (as an added advantage)

Required Skills and competencies

1.Extensive knowledge of the subject area

2.Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills

3.Ability to work as part of a team in an evolving work environment with excellent interpersonal skills;

4.Demonstrated openness and ability to manage complex and argument tasks

5.High level computer skills

6.Drive for teaching and knowledge sharing

7.Ability and initiative to build and work with teams

8.Ability to fit in with participants of all levels of age and seniority

9.Creativity in preparation of learning materials and in planning and delivery presentations

Adjunct Faculty(Research)

The School seeks to hire highly qualified and competent Kenya citizens to the position of Adjunct Research Fellow and Research Assistants on short-term contract basis to work under lead researchers and support generation of new knowledge at the Centre for Advanced Training, Research and Consultancy.

Duties and Responsibilities

1.Participate in preparation of research proposals and design of instruments for data collection

2.Carry out literature review

3.Preparation of annotated bibliographies

4.Design research questionnaires and observation protocols

5.Conduct interviews and administer questionnaires

6.Process and interpret primary data

7.Prepare draft research reports

8.Edit and proofread manuscripts

9.Facilitate seminars and workshops, and

10.Perform other duties as may be assigned by the lead researcher

Minimum Experience and Qualifications

1.The Ph.D. or Master’s degree for Research Fellows and the Bachelor’s degree for Research Assistants in Social Science, Business Studies, Law, ICT, Economics or Statistics from a recognized university

2.Training in research methods, including quantitative or qualitative data analysis

3.Practical experience in research will be an added advantage

Required Skills and Competencies
The ideal candidates for appointment will be individuals who are interested in discovery of new knowledge and ideas, comfortable with field work, accustomed to computer-based data processing software, and attuned to working with close timelines.

In addition, the ideal candidates should:

1.Demonstrate high level skills in report writing and oral communication

2.Possess knowledge of the research process

3.Be able to correctly interpret instructions and research assignments

4.Be able to apply critical thinking, innovation and decisive reasoning

5.Have ability to use statistical software and computer applications to record findings and manage research information

6.Be able to work in research teams
